Huddle House Opens First Nebraska Restaurant

Iconic family restaurant brings “Any Meal. Any Time.” to the community of York

Friday, Oct 5, 2015

YORK, Nebraska - York residents can now enjoy “Any Meal. Any Time.” with the opening of the first Huddle House restaurant in Nebraska. Local entrepreneur, fuel businessman, and now new Huddle House franchisee Tim Lichti has opened the iconic family restaurant inside his GOOD2GO Travel Center at 5018 S. Lincoln Ave. in York.

“The Huddle House menu appeals to all ages and all demographics, which is why it was so attractive to open a location inside our travel center,” said Lichti, who owns 10 Shell stations throughout Nebraska. “I’m confident this Huddle House will quickly become a popular gathering place for the York community and travelers as they stop to rest, refuel and grab a bite to eat.”

Typically open 24-hours, Huddle House serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. The menu offers a mix of Southern inspired comfort food, including signature Big House breakfasts, crispy hash browns, creamy grits, golden waffles and fluffy omelets, all made to order. Other favorites include Big Bold Burgers, Big House sandwich platters, country fried steak with green beans and marinated grilled chicken with sweet potato fries.

“This first Nebraska restaurant is a momentous expansion for our brand, and an exciting chapter in the history of our rapidly-growing restaurant chain,” said Huddle House CEO Michael Abt. “It’s an exciting time to be a Huddle House franchisee as interest in our franchise opportunity has never been higher.”

Lichti will hold a grand opening celebration on October 31 and he said the new Huddle House will be a warm and friendly new addition for his GOOD2GO Travel Center, which also features a Valentino’s Express and special trucker amenities. The new location will seat up to 75 guests and is open 24-hours.

“What makes this such a special opening is that it happens to be the very first Huddle House location in Nebraska,” Lichti added. “There was a need in York for a comfortable, local place for people who crave Southern home-style food. That’s exactly what you’ll find when you dine at our Huddle House restaurant.”

Huddle House now has more than 400 restaurants open or under development nationwide and is on track to open more than 100 new restaurants over the next three years. The growth will be accomplished primarily through franchising by both single-unit and multi-unit investors in a range of market sizes, including urban areas, small towns, travel centers and convenience sites.

The core values on which Huddle House was founded – serving quality food in a warm, friendly environment that brings the community together – remain intact today.
